5 Lake District Beauty Spots to Visit in the Sun

You might have noticed the weather slowly improving because we certainly have. It won’t be long now until Summer is in full swing and we’re all off making the most of the hot weather and exploring our wonderful county. With that in mind, it might be a good idea to put a little bit of forethought into where you would like to go when the weather is hot – after all, we are spoiled for choice here! We’ve taken some of the work away from you and compiled a little list of some beauty spots around the Lake District we absolutely think you must visit. Some of these you might already know, and others might be new to you. Either way, get out there and see them for yourself!

Angle Tarn, Penrith

If you are local to Penrith like we are at Jim Walton, you might already know this one. If not, we highly recommend coming to check it out. This little body of water is surrounded by sprawling fells are far as the eye can see, and on a beautiful evening like in this picture, the scenery really comes to life.

Buttermere

As one of the smaller lakes in the Lake District, Buttermere is an accessible walk for pretty much everyone. It’s approximately a three-hour walk around the circumference of Buttermere, and in our opinion, it's one of the most stunning lakeside walks you can do. The views are spectacular right the way around. Buttermere is also nestled between the Borrowdale Valley and Crummock water, giving it great access to some more beauty spots in the Lake District.

Rydal Water

There are not many more peaceful or tranquil walks in the Lake District than that of Rydal Water. This offers another short and accessible walk clocking in at 2 hours right around. The famous poet William Wordsworth must have agreed with this sentiment, as you can visit ‘Wordsworth’s Seat’ on your way around, famous as the poet’s favourite viewpoint. We’ve no doubt you’ll agree too when you check it out for yourself.

Catbells, Keswick

Keswick is one of the Lake District's most popular destinations for both locals and tourists alike. This is no surprise when you consider the number of unbelievable walks and beauty spots that lie at its doorstep. None are more popular than Catbells and for good reason. An easier and shorter climb than nearby Skiddaw, Catbells can offer visitors views to rival its neighbour. If you are a Lake District native who has never taken this walk on, we implore you to try it out!

Tarn Hows, Ambleside

Tarn Hows is a Lake District classic. Another relaxed walk, this one contains an extremely picturesque tarn with impressive views in every season, but of course non so much as when the Sun is shining. The tarn has gorgeous forestry along the waterside as pictured and great access to the neighbouring beauty spot of Coniston.

We hope you took some inspiration from these suggestions for your next Lake District beauty spot visit. We’ll see you out there!
